| I can wage no more war... |
[12 Jan 2006|05:25pm] |
After a year of playing World of Warcraft, I've decided to stop. Just like quiting cigarettes with a full pack, I've quit WoW with 4 more months already pre-paid.
I had a great time with damedelamorte and MrMr playing as Night Elves. I enjoyed playing the Horde side too as a Tauren. There are other games out there to play and this game was taking the front seat. Now that I've decided to quit the habit, the world seems to have opened up to me again.
Only one more time will I login to WoW, and that is to give away all of my items and gold.

| Are you the god of peace or the god of war? |
[26 Oct 2005|01:12pm] |
I just installed Black & White 2, if this is anywhere cooler than part 1, then it's on! Just look at the screenshots (especially these...click and click)! After installing the game, I read the readme.txt file. Who actually reads the readme.txt anyway? I do, that's who!
Looky here, I found a gem:
----------------------------- A. Letter from Peter Molyneux -----------------------------
"Well here is Black & White® 2. It was started one month after Creature Isle on February 14th 2002. The premise was to make a game which exceeded players' expectations in every way. The first way we have tried to do this is by radically changing what you think of as a god game, and the second is to add real time strategy elements to Black & White® which are both original and familiar. To mix this with the ability to grow and nurture your own unique Creature, who could be anything from the cutest pet, to the ultimate destructive force, and be involved in any area of the game you wish.
One of our first design goals was to make you feel like a god, to allow you to play the game in any way you wish but the game must build up to a climax which is truly epic.
The line: "Are you the god of peace or the god of war?" was one of the mantras the game was built on. In other words are you playing a god game or an RTS game? Are you going to be kind or cruel, nurture or dominate, create or destroy?
So after 1,254 days and 20,000+ take away meals here is your copy of Black & White® 2.
Well I hope you enjoy this game; there is much passion and love in what we have built. Many people here have made a lot of sacrifices to make what we think is a great game. But at the end of the day that is for you to decide."
PETER MOLYNEUX
I can tell they take real pride in their work.

| R.I.P. Sierra |
[02 Jul 2004|11:29am] |
Those of you who were adventure game lovers have probably heard the news by now, but last week Vivendi-Universal announced that they were shutting down their Sierra division, moving a few employees to Los Angeles and laying off all the rest, thus finally destroying one of the world's very first computer game companies, one with many "firsts" in the field, and the creator of some of the most wonderful game series ever. Started on a kitchen table in 1978, Sierra grew to a market capitization of over a billion dollars when it was bought out by CUC less than 20 years later.
It was a dream of mine when I was young to become a programmer for Sierra. To work with the likes of Ken & Roberta Williams, Al Lowe and the Two Guys from Andromeda. That dream can now be officially laid to rest.
"So long to a wonderful brand. I feel fortunate and proud that I was a part of it when it actualy meant something. To me, Sierra in the 80's was a special place at a special time and by doing something we loved we made people happy and even changed a few lives. How many people get to say that?" -Al Lowe

| Wario is creepy |
[05 Jun 2003|01:33am] |
I got Wario Ware for the GBA the other day. Man, that game is so perfect for someone with ADD. It just jumps around from mini-game to mini-game within seconds. Guaranteed to satisfy anyones short-term memory. I don't know how I feel about the Wario character though. Ever since he was first introduced in the Nintendo family he's just plain creeped me out. Wario World has already been put on my GoVoJo list. I'm wondering if after I play it, I'll appreciate Wario more.
As I look back on what I did today, it seems that all I did was play video games. I started out playing Ghost Recon: Desert Siege (PC), then on to a little SimCity3000 (PC), I got really far on Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES), I played to level 4 on Zelda (NES), then played a couple of different racing games on the N64. I think I'll close this evening with some desperately needed Final Fantasy X time.

| Too many games, not enough time |
[02 Jun 2003|04:27pm] |
I've been so incredibly busy with post-production on our movie that I've had zero time for gaming. Since today is the deadline for getting our film into the Sidewalk Film Festival, I will once again be able to spend countless hours trying to beat my current line-up.
Let's see, my current line-up is: Final Fantasy X, Golden Sun, Kingdom Hearts
Games that I'm in the middle of but have been kinda put on hold: Zelda: Wind Waker, Rayman 3
I'm always trying to play too many games at once. I promise myself that when I get a new game, I shouldn't even play it until I've beaten whichever game I'm in the middle of. That is the curse of getting all the free video games one could want.
So yesterday, I got two new games: Disaster Report and Primal
I've already made the mistake of playing them both. Actually Primal is so freakin cool looking, I made myself eject the game right after the long cinematic intro. Disaster Report seems like a cool concept, I played it until I died. Incidentally I fell from a bus which was lying on it's side which was balancing on the edge of a severely damaged bridge while in the middle of an earthquake. That game makes you feel as though your in a high-budget Hollywood flick.
Okay, focus on one thing tonight... continue with Final Fantasy X.

| Ken and Roberta, watta pair! |
[23 May 2003|05:33pm] |
I just found this interview with Ken Williams. It's a great interview too, he really digs deep into the history of Sierra. Also, I found out that he runs a website, Sierragamers.com, that he just started up last month. He's trying to preserve the history of Sierra in every way possible. It's a fantastic site and a real walk down memory lane when you start looking through the Sierra Museum.
I love lying in bed with my GBA SP and just playing until my eyes close and my brain shuts down.
Last night I played some more Golden Sun before going to sleep. I just reached Kalay Docks and piled onto the ship (looks alot like a pirate ship, arrrr matey!). I fought off all three rounds of the sea creatures and then the boss come along and totally kicked my ass. It was right after I died that I just went to sleep.

| A New Beginning |
[22 May 2003|11:45pm] |
I just had a crazy idea. What if I started a brand new Live Journal with only posts about gaming? Well, it's too late now, I already started it, and you're reading it right now.
Okay, so.. Welcome to my gaming journal!
